Currently, there has been numerous effort initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to promote recycling. Among them is the building of public collection centre and the erection of billboards to remind the public of items that can be recycled. In this programme, we are targeting the participation of Government Departments and Government Linked Companies (GLC) in the whole of Malaysia.

Through this programme, the Government Departments are able to lead by example in support of the initiatives by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. Participating in the programme will also help to boost the image of our government organization. It will portray that our government is very environment conscious and is leading the effort to conserve the environment.

Collection centre will be set at the various Departments and the recycle item will be collected in a scheduled basis. Every time a person recycle, he or she will be asked of their MyKad number. MyKad number is unique and it will be used to identify the recycler. Whenever the recycler send in the item, points will also be given to them for accumulation.

Monthly rewards such as small electronic items, shopping vouchers, or mobile phones will be given to the person with the highest recycle point for the month. A grand prize in the form of plasma TV or home entertainment system will be given to the person with highest total accumulated recycle point. This is to encourage more participation from the government servants.
