National Volunteer Week, April 15 to April 21 全国志愿周

National Volunteer Week honours the people who donate their time and energy to their fellow citizens. Celebrated the third week in April, it also raises awareness of the vital contribution volunteers make to the communities and to the identity and values of the country.

Youth volunteerism in Canada 加拿大的青年志愿工作者

The 2004 Canada Survey on Giving, Volunteering and Participating found that Canadians aged 15 to 24 have a higher rate of volunteerism (55%) than any other age group. Statistics also show that youth who have early, positive volunteer experiences are more likely to volunteer in their later years.

For youth, volunteering brings a new sense of confidence, self-gratification and a good way to interact in the "grown-up world". It also enables young people to develop new communication, career building and social skills that will be useful in other facets of their lives.
